Love Stuff: The useful selfie

Selfies get a lot of hate (and honestly, most of them quite deserve it. Though who is without a flattering selfie, throw the first stone comment!), BUT let me explain the useful kind of selfie. That’s right, no mistakes here, I am serious. As much as putting them into three categories:
1. The morning inspiration
There are those mornings, when you’re out of imagination, creativity and most importantly: clothes. You have NOTHING to wear, or at least in your head you can’t find anything to wear. Here’s what helps: quickly flipping through pictures of other people wearing inspiring outfits or pictures of yourself wearing outfits you felt good in. That’s right. I confess. On my computer I have an emergency file called “Weardrobe” with tons of pictures from the internet of inspiring outfits, details, combinations, as well as selfies documenting my outfits that I liked. It’s simple. Next time you feel well in your outfit, snap it and keep it in your computer for that helpless morning moment.

2. The wardrobe selfie
Saved for that moment when you simply can’t decide in the dressing room or in front of your mirror if something fits you well. Take a picture of it. Honestly, it helps. It suddenly shows the shapes, the colours and flaws of that outfit in their reality, and if you try to look at it honestly, it will tell you what rather not to wear. Note: if you do take a picture, it does not necessarily mean you have to share it with the rest of the world. With the exception, when you’re writing an article about it, haha.

3. The Fashion Revolution Day selfie
Tomorrow, on the 24th of April, use a selfie to join the first Fashion Revolution Day, a way to ask through social media for a bigger transparency in clothes production. A chance to ask the brands you are wearing “Who made my clothes?” Slovakia and the Czech Republic are participating as well, look here for more information. And join. By snapping your daily outfit worn inside out, with visible tags, either reminding brands you care about who makes your clothes, or supporting brands where you know who made them. I will be joining through Instagram and Facebook. And Who made Your clothes?

Selfies sú veselo nenávidenou disciplínou (a pravdu povediac, často zaslúžene. Na druhej strane, kto si ešte neurobil lichotivú selfie, nech prvý hodí kameňom komentom!), ALE ja mám teóriu o užitočných selfies. Presne tak, bez srandy, tento druh existuje. Natoľko, že ho mám uložený v troch kategóriách:

2. Rozhodovacie selfies
Odfoťte si to. Fakt to pomôže. Poznámka: odfotenie takejto fotky neznamená, že ju musíte zdielať so zbytkom sveta. Výnimka: keď o tom píšete článok na blog, haha.

3. Fashion Revolution Day selfie
Je to šanca pýtať sa značiek, ktoré nosíte “Who made my clothes?” A kto vyrobil vaše šaty?

Behind the scenes

...a.k.a. the lovely Zuz guest starring in the video for Tatrabanka, together with this bike from Slowatch (also in the picture, the DOP girls: Buranova&Weisslechner). It was a cold, but beautiful day. And I experimented with shooting on diapositive film and quite like the results. The film is more sensitive to work with, but colours come out beautifully.

Plus a few bonus photos from shooting the video with photographer Jakub Klimo in the beautiful, abandoned Grössling swimming pool.  And if they haven't already driven you crazy on youtube, you can watch the two videos here

Plus zopár bonusov z točenia videa s fotografom Jakubom Klimom, v priestoroch opustených kúpeľov Grössling. A ak vás ešte nedorazili na youtube, videá si môžete pozrieť tu aha.

Zdenko, at F&F AW14 in London

Snapped before the F&F AW14 show at Somerset House, meet Slovak showbiz and fashion journalist Zdenko, the master of pattern mixing. That night he was opting for a very British look and as usual, it did not disappoint, hats down to that!

Odchytený pred prehliadkou F&F v Somerset House, slovenský módny a showbiz novinár Zdenko, majster v kombinovaní vzorov. Ten večer uchopil tematicky, v britskom štýle, a ja dávam klobúky dole!

Barbora, at F&F AW14 in London

I love, love this look by Barbora, seen at the F&F press trip in London. It so reminded me of high-school years when I used to sneak around my dad's closet and steal his old suit pants and wear them all baggy and comfortable, feeling cool as a cat. These ones, left over from a shooting (Barbora is a stylist and make-up artist, look) are from Marks&Spencer and I am so getting them!

Tento Barborin model, z F&F press tripu v Londýne, ma dostal. Krásne nostalgicky mi pripomenul časy zo strednej, keď som si požičiavala otcove staršie oblekové nohavice - boli superpohodlné a supercool.

Jakub Klimo & Tonbo for Tatra banka

It's been a bit quiet here lately, but I was crazy busy working on many things - one of them being these two videos for Tatra banka.
The one about the great and lovely photographer Jakub Klimo (and his adorable son Mates) was a lot of fun - as you can see in the video. Did you know that Jakub is not only a crazy photographer, but also a crazy craftsman?
The other one was a bit more tough, since I am also being in the video - oh yes, it is about my two identities and trying to function in two worlds. A bit psycho, like the whole shoot, but thanks to a wonderful team, also fun. And thanks to Tatra banka. And for a special appearance, thanks to Red Poppy Zuz (who looks gorgeous in the video) and Slowatch for the bike. Video-selfie anyone? :-)

Love Stuff: THIS ring

My unbelievable guy made me this ring (yes, he made it, not only the design, but the thing itself, with the help of his blacksmith master and a friend studying jewellery. Unf.....gbelievable). It is my absolute favorite thing right now, right in the middle of my gold phase that's probably here to stay (oh, here about my gold phase).
How can you say NO to something like this?! Well, I did say YES (yaaaaay! :-) And because the summer is coming, there is a new label/tag I am starting to use under some blog posts that says "wedding", meaning there will be a few articles on this topic. BUT! Since I have always had a reserved feeling about weddings, I do not posses any collection of pictures, links to blogs, webpages, picture galleries with inspiration and that's what I need right now!!! If you do have some, please share, send me your inspiration, thank you very much beforehand (with this particular hand, haha).

Teda vymyslel dizajn a pomocou svojho kováčskeho majstra a kamarátky šperkárky ho vyrobil.

It's all in your mind, at London Fashion Week

Met her at Somerset House. Only now do I notice the really wild mix and match of a little bit of everything (high hair, fur, lace, baby pink skirt, racer gloves, canvas bag, pendant necklace and red lips), ruled by her total coolness. It's all in your mind.

Zo stretnutia na chodbe Somerset House. Až teraz som si dopodrobna všimla ten mix najrôznejších elementov (výčes, kožuch, čipka, púdrová, rukavice, plátená taška, medajlón a červené pery), ktorý spája do jedného celku jej výraz dámy nad vecou. Všetko je to o postoji.

At the Designer showrooms, LFW

Just a little bit more of your patience, please, on the subject of London Fashion Week, because this part is really worth it. Walking through the Designer showrooms was a very educational, enlightening and fun experience. It is almost scary amazing to see how many beautiful, perfectly executed brands are there in the world (and I mean in the fragment of the world called Somerset House that week), and realize the competition is freaking huge challenging and is a must-see for all young designers. Here are some of the highlights (including the beautiful collection above by the London based Pavane):

First I noticed this huge leather backpack by Dr. Martens, but then the gentleman he was talking to...

...well hello, Mr. Stephen Jones!
...zdravíčko, Mr. Stephen Jones!

The whole millinery and jewellery section was very colourful and fun. Especially when we happened to visit it at the coctail time, ehm :-)
Celá klobučnícka a šperkárska časť showroomov bola zážitková. Najmä, keď sme ju úplnou náhodou navštívili počas šumivej recepcie :-)

At moments my inner minimalist cried in the corner, while my inner bling lover rejoiced. By Yunus & Eliza.

My inner bling lover's attention was caught by pieces from Noritamy

One of my top discoveries: an actually rain-proof, well tailored trench-raincoat by Terra New York. Just get them the Nobel prize, please.
Osobný objav zo showroomov: naozajstný, kvalitný, nepremokavý pršiplášť v tvare trenchcoatu od Terra New York. Nobelovku za toto!

And that's a Good-bye!
Dovi!

Soft, London

Soft. That is the only word that comes to my mind. Soft colours, soft materials, soft hair. And nice mid-section.
All right, motivation is the second word :-)

A pekné brucho.
Tak, motivácia je hneď druhé slovo :-)

Jesus Gang Project by Jakub Polanka

That night at Red gallery in London's Shoreditch neighborhood, it felt very... "neighborhood-y". Lots of familiar faces excited and curious to see Jakub Polanka's show, produced by OLO-DRESSING. In London. In a gallery's underground space. Now, how cool is that?
Actually, the whole show and collection was transmitting that cool street vibe. Not like Bratislava or Prague street. More like London. Paris. As a follow-up to his Bellevile collection presented at both Prague Fashion Weekend and Fashion LIVE! in Bratislava, it felt even more street. And punk in the way it was executed. Hence the black plastic shopping bags. Covered faces. Fingerless gloves. Model's own sneakers. The writing/spraying on the wall. All this supported by the feel of the garage-like space. Oh, and just when I thought massive caps were so 90's, here I go craving one.

V ten večer, v neznámej Red gallery v londýnskej štvrti Shoreditch, bolo tak príjemne "známo". Kopec známych tvárí, zvedavých na show Jakuba Polanku, v produkcii OLO-DRESSING. V Londýne. V podzemnom priestore galérie. Však najviac.
Celá show aj kolekcia vyžarovala ten cool pouličný dojem. A pankáčskeho prevedenia. Ako čierne nákupné igelitky. Zakryté tváre. Bezprsté rukavicové návleky. Tenisky, pravdepodobne patriace modelom. Nápis/stencil na stene. To všetko podporené pocitom garážoidného priestoru...

„But today the way I play the game has got to change yeaaah!“

After the show, everyone wanted a piece of the cap... I am very lucky and thankful for mine, here on Facebook, very gangsta chic :-)

Ja som mala to šťastie a ďakujem za tú moju, tu na Facebooku, very gangster chic, haha :-)
