Maya, Bratislava streetstyle

I have a confession to make. There was a time when I was THIS close to studying fashion design. I loved sketching outfits, I still have tons of sketches hidden somewhere on the bottom of a drawer in my parents' apartment. That year the Academy of Fine Arts enrolled only 4 or 5 fashion design students. I finished around the number 50. Out of 140. Told you, THIS close :-)
I was even determined to try to get in the next year, but ended up caught in advertising instead. Hmmm...

Anyway. Point is that since then I haven't followed the fashion designers scene too closely, resulting in asking an accomplished fashion designer to pose for streetstyle pictures without recognizing her (even after she told me her name.... shooot!) Trying to quickly steer the conversation I asked her if the dress she's wearing is her own design. "No, it's Alexander McQueen." (Damn, should stop asking silly questions!) "....only a little bit altered." (whaaaat, altered McQueen?!) "But don't tell anybody." (Sure I won't. She didn't say write, did she? :-)

You know what, I guess if you had a part time working placement at McQueen's atelier like Maria Stranekova did, you're kind of allowed to touch the design :-) For more about the very gracious and sweet Maya (for posing and allowing me to publish this story :-) and her wonderful work, look here.
