Movie night, Bratislava streetstyle

 

 It was getting dark. He was going to see a movie. I told him he was right on the street he has been looking for. So he had a few moments to spare.

Stmievalo sa. On sa ponáhlal do filmového klubu. Povedala som mu, že ulica, ktorú hľadá, je presne tá, na ktorej stojí. A on, že tedá má ešte chvíľu.

I love this Spanish girl's autumn palette (and the leather vest!), so harmonious and soft.

Veľmi sa mi páči jesenná paleta tejto Španielky (a jej kožená vesta!), čistá harmónia farieb.

The bride with the braid, wedding style

This post is dedicated to my dear friends Zuzka and Martin, who had a very jolly wedding in a mountain hotel this past weekend :-)
For her wedding day, as much as we came up with alternative and crazy dress ideas (yeah, easy to do when it's not your wedding, ha), it turned out, Zuzka wanted to be a princess for the day :-), hence the classical shape of the dress (with layers of tulle underneath) and satin as the material. It was also supposed to reflect her love for all things natural (braid woven from silk, green bouquet and hair decoration) and the not so traditional (open back, asymmetric braid).

Tento post je venovaný mojím drahým priateľom Zuzke a Martinovi, ktorý mali tento víkend veselú svadbu v jednom horskom hoteli :-)
Pôvodne sme Zuzke ponúkali všelijaké hodnotné nápady na svadobné šaty (to sa ľahko vymýšľa, keď to nie je vaša svadba, ha), ale ako postupne vysvitlo, Zuzke sa chcela stať v ten deň princeznou :-), preto klasická silueta šiat (s vrstvami tylu pod saténom). Šaty mali tiež zvýrazniť jej lásku k prírodným veciam (vrkoč upletený z hodvábu, zelená kytička "čo les dal", aj ozdoba do vlasov) aj lásku k výnimočným a nie tak tradičným veciam (otvorený chrbát, asymetrické umiestnenie vrkoča).

I admit, I am biased here, but come on, how beautiful is this just married, glowing woman? :-)

Priznávam, som zaujatá, ale aká krásna je táto čerstvo vydatá, šťastím žiariaca žena? :-)

 

I am pretty sure, while sending off this paper lantern in the middle of the night, they were wishing lots of love and happiness not only to their close ones, but to everyone out there. And that includes you as well :-)

Okay now, I promise that for at least a year this was the last wedding themed post here. Thank you for your patience :-)

Som si celkom istá, že keď púšťali tento papierový lampión, priali veľa lásky a štastia nielen svojim blízkym, ale všetkým živým bytostiam. Vrátane vás :-)

Preview: wedding dress in the making

Hooray, another joyful wedding weekend is coming up! Cake and dancing and all that jazz :-)
The bride, my dear friend Zuzka, has her dress all ready and packed and right now is on the way to her native Banská Bystrica where the ceremony will take place. The dress was made by fashion designer Jana Gavalcová (and I mean really custom made for the bride and her way of feeling and wanting and needing). Me and my camera accompanied Zuzka for her second fitting and it was just so precious to see the dress being created right there and adjusted in the process of new ideas coming up. Jana was a really lovely host, more pictures from her atelier and the fitting and the final dress and bride coming soon. Have a splendid weekend!

Ha, ďalší famózny svadobný víkend sa nám blíži. Ruka hore, noha v torte! :-) 
Nevesta, milá naša Zuzka, má už šaty pripravené a zbalené, a v týchto chvíľach už ufujazdí smer rodná Banská Bystrica, kde sa bude konať obrad. Svadobné šaty pochádzajú z dielne módnej návrhárky Janky Gavalcovej, ktorá ich doslova šila na mieru nevestiným pocitom, túžbam a osobnosti. Na druhú skúšku šiat som išla so Zuzkou (a s foťákom) a poviem vám, bolo fascinujúce sledovať proces tvorby šiat, ktoré sa formovali priamo na Zuzke a prispôsobovali jej potrebám a novým nápadom. Janka bola veľmi milá hostiteľka, takže viac fotiek z jej ateliéru, zo skúšky aj finálne šaty na neveste už čoskoro. Parádny to víkend vám prajem!

How was your day? Mine was just great, I feel really excited from a promising meeting today and just feel like saying a few Thanks - first to the very talented Lucy from the blog elleestfou who made me this gorgeous sketchbook, that I just ordered. (Photo by Lucy)

I would also like to say thanks to the over 100 lovely regular readers of Tonbogirl and all the others coming every day as well - thank you for your presence, comments, lovely mails and support! I remember one night, at the very beginning of blogging, I had a crazy dream that I had 28 followers (!) and woke up realizing it was only a dream... Well, tust me, there's no such thing as ONLY a dream, so go ahead, have crazy dreams :-)

And Thanks to all stopping by at Facebook - I added a little badge on the side of the blog so you can find me directly if you feel like it :-) Ta-daaam, and I now I stop being so emotional and go and cleanse my lenses before tomorrow's little shooting with a very interesting young lady. Aký ste mali deň? Ten môj bol skvelý, zavŕšený sľubným stretnutím, a celú ma dostal do takej nálady, že mám chuť povedať pár Ďakujem - napríklad talentovanej Lucy z blogu ellestfou, ktorá mi zo svojich nádherných skečbukov vybrala tento krásny, ktorý som si už stihla objednať (foto by Lucy).

Tiež by som chcela povedať jedno veľké Ďakujem všetkým vyše 100 pravidelným čitateľom Tonbogirl, ako aj ostatným, čo sem denne chodíte - ďakujem za vaše komentáre, milé maily a podporu! 
Pamätám si, že v jednu noc na začiatku blogovania sa mi prisnilo, že som mala 28 followerov (!) až kým som neprecitla s pocitom, že to bol iba sen. Verte mi, IBA sny neexistujú, tak hor sa do snívania, nech sa zdá byť akékoľvek šialené :-)

A vďaka všetkým spriateleným na Facebooku! Na pravej strane blogu nájdete malý badge, s ktorým ma na knihe tvárí ľahšie nájdete, ak by ste na to práve mali náladu :-) Tak, a už končím so sentimentálnymi rečami a idem si leštiť objektív na zajtrajšie malé stretnutie s jednou inšpiratívnou mladou dámou. Dočítania! :-)

Dominika Žáková, Bratislava art style

So this was little bit of an experiment. Shooting a young talented painter, on the exciting night of her opening exhibition, outside on the cold street, away from the young loud artsy crowd in the cafe full of smoke. Jumping from the passing cars, getting cursed at by the trolley driver blinded by the flash. It was fun, thank you :-)

Bol to taký malý experiment. Fotiť mladú a talentovanú maliarku počas jej vernisáže, na tmavej ulici, objaté len studeným vzduchom, ďaleko od hlučnej umeleckej mládeže v zafajčenej kaviarni. Uhýbali sme prechádzajúcim autám, nechali si vynadať od šoféra trolejbusu, ktorého oslepil blesk. Bola to zábava, ďakujem :-)

I can't help it, she just really reminds me of the recent Dolce and Gabbana ads with a really young and Italian looking Madonna - simple, almost classical body hugging black dress, little bit of lace, little bit of skinny belt, lots of healthy skin and beautiful hair. There. I said it :-)

Nemôžem si pomôcť, Dominika mi tu veľmi pripomína aktuálne Dolce and Gabbana reklamy s veľmi mlado a taliansky vyzerajúcou Madonnou - jednoduché, čierne, obtiahnuté šaty až klasického strihu, troška čipky, troška tenkého opasku, veľa zdravej pleti a krásnych vlasov. Tak. Sa mi uľavilo :-)

Somebody, I think it might have been The Sartorialist, recently raised the question: what is more important, fashion or style? What/who you wear or how you wear it? Who you are trying to be or who you are? Being fashionable or doing your own thing? So many questions :-) and they all came to me while photographing this irresistible girl on the street.

Niekde som nedávno čítala otázku, a je dosť možné, že ju položil Sartorialist: čo je dôležitejšie, móda alebo štýl? Čo/akú značku nosíte alebo ako to nosíte? Kým sa chcete stať alebo kto ste? Byť módnym alebo ísť svojou cestou? Toľko otázok :-) a všetky sa mi objavili v hlave, ako som fotila toto neodolateľné dievča na ulici.
