Story of a dress, part 2.

It all started here. The project, the idea, the collaboration, the girly hours spent at Maria's atelier. I love inspiring women. That's why I feel so lucky :-) And proud. Of the wonderful Mária Štraneková to be the first of designers to be chosen and supported by the Tatra banka Foundation, by designing a dress specially for the Award ceremony (it was such a privilege - and let's be honest, lots of fun! - to be there just to watch the process of this beautiful dress to be made!). And proud of the wonderful Mili from the Foundation who put together and amazing cultural evening filled with inspiration and love for all things beautiful. Všetko to začalo tu. Celý projekt, myšlienka spolupráce, babské hodiny strávené v Máriinom ateliéry. Ja proste milujem inšpiratívne ženy. A mám z pekla šťastie :-) A tak som hrdá na úžasnú Mayu Štranekovú, ktorá sa stala prvou v rade slovenských módnych návrhárov, vybraných a podporených Nadáciou Tatra banky (bola to veľká česť - a povedzme si úprimne, aj veľká zábava, ha! - byť pri tvorbe týchto nádherných šiat!). A som hrdá aj na úžasnú Mili z Nadácie, ktorá dala dokopy taký krásny a hodnotný kultúrny večer plný inšpirácie a citu pre krásno. Zoznam ocenených a fotky aj úplne finálnych šiat (so šperkom od Renáty Ormandíkovej) zo soboty večera nájdete tu. 

Okay, just a quick little picture together with the girls at the night of the event :-) Maya borrowed me this beautiful black organza skirt (!) and I felt like a princess in it - flowing (or rather trying to) through the reception :-) Thank you!

Dovolím si malú výnimku a fotku z recepcie večera :-) Mária mi zapožičala tú nádhernú čiernu sukňu z organzy (!) a ja som sa celý večer cítila ako princezná, ktorá pláva priestorom (aspoň snaha z mojej strany bola :-) Ďakujem krásne!

Autumn plaid, Bratislava streetstyle

Saša, Bratislava streetstyle

I am so happy about these pictures capturing the rays of November sun, because Saša is a real sunshine. She is the drive and charizma behing Sashe.sk, a Slovak online shop of handmade design pieces. I have met her before and we talked about Sashe giving online space to Tonbogirl and Tonbogirl participating on a project for Sashe. Yay! :-)
Here she is of course wearing some pieces from the online shop, and I especially love the little cup-ring. Which reminds me of tea, of the UK, of London and the flight tickets in my pocket! Yay 2! :-) Wishing us all a sunny week, maybe we'll lure the sun back out...

Veľmi sa teším z týchto fotiek zachytávajúcich novembrové slnečné lúče, lebo Saša je slnko sama o sebe. Ona je hybnou silou a charizmou za Sashe.sk, online obchodom slovenských handmade dizajnových kúskov. So Sašou sme sa stretli už skôr, keď sme sa rozprávali o spoločnom projekte Sashe a Tonbogirl, a o promotion, ktoré zatiaľ na sashe.sk Tonbogirl dostáva. Merci! :-) 
Tu má Saša na sebe samozrejme pár kúskov zo sashe.sk, mojim favoritom je prsteň so šálkou, ou-ou! Čo mi pripomína čaj, Anglicko, Londýn a letenky vo vrecku, oh yes! :-)

Invitation: Magda Marnell in Prague

This looks promising and exciting :-) Minty is bringing Swedish designer Magda Marnell and her concept "Deconstructed" to Prague. To me, everything deconstructed sounds just fine :-)
If you would like to see the show, write to minty@minty.cz and request to be on the guest list - if there is still place, they will put you there. Otherwise, after the show at 8 p.m. the space will be open so you can have a look at the collection and hang out. I will be there, shooting a backstage story :-) yay, can't wait! So hopefully see ya! :-)

Toto vyzerá veľmi sľubne :-) Minty prináša švédsku dizajnérku Magdu Marnell a jej kolekciu "Deconstructed" do Prahy. Čokoľvek s nálepkou "deconstructed" mojim ušiam a predstavivosti len lahodí :-)
Ak chcete vidieť prehliadku, stačí napísať na minty@minty.cz a v prípade, že sú ešte voľné miesta, dajú vás na guest list. Každopádne po prehliadke o 20.00 hod. bude priestor otvorený a kolekcia vystavená, takže sa môžete prísť pozrieť, prípadne si dať drink na afterparty. Ja tam budem fotiť backstage story :-) teším sa veľmi! Tak sa hádam vidíme :-)

Priatelia sú na to, aby vás rozosmievali, keď vás práve niekto fotí. A to je v poriadku, však takého úsmevu by bola škoda :-) Ehm, dávam do pozornosti ladiace mini-afro-stromčeky v pozadí....

Alexandra was at a photo exhibition when a stranger disturbed her to have her picture taken - just here, outside. Yes, now, before the light falls. We'll just ask the lady from the gallery to let us back in. I know, so many photograph left to see... So she took her heart and went.

Alexandra bola na výstave fotiek, keď ju neznáma osoba vyrušila s prosbou o fotku - aha, len tuto vonku. Áno, teraz, lebo za chvíľu sa bude stmievať. Ale však pani z galérie nás potom určite pustí späť. Veď toto, toľko fotiek si ešte treba pozrieť... Tak si zobrala srdce a išla.

Helen & Viviana, Bratislava streetstyle via UK and Italy

 

Want a proof that Bratislava is a small place where you can sometimes bump into the same people? I spent Saturday morning on a work meeting at the Horáreň café, where I first saw these girls. And there was something intriguing about them. The combination of the boyish haircut with the big round 80's clip on earrings, the blue with the violet, the geeky, but somehow classical glasses. It all felt very simple, almost banal, yet so cool.
So when I bumped into them again during lunch at café Verne, I approached them. Turns out Helen is an emerging young artist from Birmingham and Viviana is the curator of Helen's exhibition "There's something to this (but I don't know what it is)" that will be opening this Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Youth Gallery - Nitra Gallery in Nitra. And you all are welcome to have a look and say Hello to the girls, they are really nice :-)
By the way, Viviana's glasses are her grandfather's :-)

Dôkaz, že Bratislava je malé miesto, kde často narazíte na tých istých ľudí? Sobotu ráno som mala pracovné stretnutie v Horárni, kde som tieto dievčatá videla po prvý raz. A bolo na nich niečo neuchopiteľne zajímavé a pritom skoro banálne jednoduché. Chlapčenský zostrih v kombinácii s veľkými 80's klipsňovými náušnicami, modrá s fialovou, a trendové, ale predsa klasicky pôsobiace okuliare. 
Takže keď som ich stretla po druhýkrát na obede vo Verne, oslovila som ich. Vysvitlo, že Helen je úspešne začínajúca mladá umelkyňa z Birminghamu a Viviana je kurátorkou Heleninej výstavy "There's something to this (but I don't know what it is)",  ktorá sa otvára tento štvrtok o 17.00 hod. v Galérii mladých Nitrianskej galérie. Tak sa pokojne zastavte a pozdravte dievčatá, boli naozaj veľmi milé :-)
Mimochodom, Vivianine okuliare sú po starom otcovi :-)

Pfffff, I got sooo exhausted just by posting the pictures, that I will be short on the words. Promise :-)
In fact, let's do it this way (if you want to know more, click): One Saturday in Prague, one old flat, a fresh collection (based on mixing the elements of men's and women's garments) of one intriguing Michal Bým to be presented in London, one talented photographer, one perfectionist make-up artist, one beautiful hair - and everything you need - stylist, one very professional model, one not so professional (but quite entertaining :-), one kitten behaving like a tiger, one backstage photographer shooting on black and white film, one banana and kiwi cheesecake unwilling to behave according to the recipe (but oh so yummy), one mirror broken into many little mirrors, many wonderful pieces of hand made, high quality clothes and some very patient readers of this blog. Now how could all this not result in a very unexpected, but wonderful experience? :-)

A preto to spravím takto (veselo klikajte, ak chcete vedieť/vidieť viac): Jedna sobota v Prahe, jeden starý byt, jedna čerstvá kolekcia smer Londýn (postavená na miešaní elementov mužského a ženského šatníka) jedného veľmi zaujímavého Michala Býma, jedna talentovaná fotografka, jedna vizážistka-perfekcionistka, jedna nádherná hair sylistka - so schopnosťou rukami stylovať a slovami štylizovať čokoľvek, jedna veľmi profesionálna modelka, jeden menej profesionálny (ale celkom zábavný) model, jedno mačiatko s občasným temperamentom tigra, jeden backstage fotograf fotiaci na čiernobiely film, jeden banánovo-kiwi cheescake neberúci do úvahy správanie podľa receptu (ale mňam dobrý!), jedno zrkadlo rozbité na mnoho malých zrkadiel, a mnoho ručne robených, kvalitných kúskov oblečenia. A samozrejme zopár veľmi trpezlivých čitateľov tohto blogu. Toto proste nemohlo skončiť inak, ako jeden neočakávaný, náročný, ale inšpiratívny zážitok :-)

Remember this guy and this girl? I met them both independently during the Prague Fashion Weekend. They didn't know each other, but got in touch through my blog (ooooh yes, I am so proud of that, ha and even more happy :-). Then we all met here. And talked about Michal being passionate about fashion design, working on his first collection and wanting to study fashion at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. And about Olga's passion for styling and fashion. So one Saturday in Prague a group of passionate people gathered in an old flat to shoot Michal's collection that was supposed to be presented in London. And I was there just snapping away. And that is only the beginning of the story. More pics and info about the shooting coming tomorrow... :-)

Pamätáte si tohto chlapíka a túto krásku? Oboch som stretla nezávisle od seba na Prague Fashion Weekende. Vtedy sa ešte nepoznali, skontaktovali sa až cez môj blog (sorry, ale som na to vááážne hrdá a hlavne sa z toho teším, žejo :-). A potom sme sa všetci stretli tu. A bavili sa o Michalovej vášni pre módu, o jeho prvej kolekcii oblečenia a túžbe študovať na Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design v Londýne. A o Olginej vášni pre styling a módu. A tak sa jednu pražskú sobotu a v jednom pražskom byte zišla skupinka ľudí s vášňou pre krásno a s cieľom nafotiť Michalovú kolekciu, aby mohla byť odprezentovaná v Londýne. A ja som bola pri tom a len som si tak cvakala. A to je začiatok príbehu. Viac fotiek a info o fotení zajtra... :-)

3. Romi, the creative soul
So this wasn't the plan. We were supposed to shoot a third outfit outside, but got lost in talking to the point of no light outside. So we stayed in, got tea and dried pieces of apple from Romi's boyfriend and talked about artsy-fansy stuff like:
* love of fashion (Romi showed me her inspiration notebooks full of glued in pictures from magazines - and I suddenly remembered how I used to make the same books full of cut out pictures from magazines, yay!),
* love of style (she used to work as a stylist for different types of media. Bellow are the three covers of Inspire magazine that she is especially proud of),
* love of interior design (she did the whole interior decoration work of the house they live at right now, and I say hats down. She confessed she has moments when she considers ditching being a lawyer for being a student of interior design. Like in New York. I say, go for it, girl! :-)

Style essentials: Lanvin dress, Giuseppe Zanotti boots, necklace from a small shop in Tuscany.
Oh, and how could I forget - introducing the rest of the dog pack: Funky and Jazzy :-)

2. Kreatívna duša Romi
Tak toto nebolo v pláne. Pôvodne sme mali fotiť aj tretí outfit vonku, zarozprávali sme sa však tak, až to svetlo prestalo baviť a odišlo úplne. Tak sme zostali v teple domova a mäkkosti pohovky, dostali čaj a sušené jabĺčka od Rominho priateľa a reč nestála a točila sa, točila, až prišli na rad všemožné lásky:
* láska k móde (Romi mi ukázala svoje zošity plné vystrihnutých a nalepených fotiek z časopisov - presne takéto zošity plné obrázkov, čo ma inšpirovali, som si robievala aj ja! :-)
* láska k štýlu (Romi istý čas pracovala ako štylistka pre rôzne médiá, nižšie sú tri obálky časopisu Inspire, na ktoré je obzvlášť hrdá)
* láska k interiérovému dizajnu (celý dom, v ktorom momentálne bývajú, je jej prácou, a musím povedať, že klobúk dole. Romi sa priznala, že má momenty, kedy by najradšej nechala prácu právničky a stala sa študentkou interiérového dizajnu. Ideálne niekde v New Yorku. Otázka času, podľa mňa, ha! :-)

Style essentials: šaty Lanvin, topánky Giuseppe Zanotti, náhrdelník z malého obchodíku v Toskánsku.
A samozrejme nemôžem zabudnúť na druhú polovicu psej svorky, nech sa páči, zoznámte sa: Funky a Jazzy :-)
Týmto ďakujem Romi za príjemne strávený čas a inšpiráciu a prajem všetkým funkyjazzykrásny víkend! :-)
