Paulina, who not only does look so Nordic, she also speak Swedish and loves everything about Sweden (God Tag, Kottbullar!), told me she was eyeing this overall in H&M for a long time, until they had it only in large. No big deal even if you are size small, but have a mom who is a seamstress - little cut here, little tuck in there, ready to wear :-) And I love the detail of the turquoise pendant hanging out from what is a swimwear top.

Paulina, ktorá nielen vyzerá ako severanka, ale aj po Švédsky hovorí a všetko švédske miluje (God Tag, Kottbullar!), dlho pokukávala po tomto H&M overale, až mali už iba veľkosť L. Čo vôbec nevadí, aj keď máte veľkosť S, ale maminu krajčírku - tu sa troška odstihne, tam vypára, tu zahne, ta-dám, hotovo :-) Milý je detail vykukujúceho tyrkysového prívesku, ktorý je súčasťou vrchu plaviek.

To those of you, new readers, who are not familiar with the "In her style" feature on this blog - it is something like a style profile of one person, where you see three seasonal outfits representing the style of that person.
Right now we are at number two of Paulina's summer outfits. At the moment, she loves leather, feather and stones and I in general love black in the summer, so this kind of represents both of us :-) To me, wearing all black in summer is about the little details: the leather string woven into the hair, the leather string belt, the green-turquoise stones, the pleated structure of the skirt, the see-through top and all around silhouette.... Well, very exceptionally, I already know what I am wearing tomorrow :-)

Pre vás, milých nových čitateľov, ktorí nepoznáte rubriku "In her style" na tomto blogu, krátke vysvetlenie: je to niečo ako profil jednej osoby, respektíve jej osobného štýlu, reprezentovaný tromi sezónnymi outfitmi (teda, to je hrozné slovo, nemáte nejakú alternatívu? :-) 
Momentálne sme pri druhom outfite (!) Pauliny. Ona aktuálne obľubuje kožu, perie a "šutre" a ja vo všeobecnosti obľubujem letnú čiernu, krásna to súhra :-) Čierna od hlavy po päty je podľa mňa celkom osviežujúca a jej čaro tkvie v malých detailoch: v koži zapletenej vo vlasoch, v opasku z kože, v tyrkysových kameňoch, skladanej sukni, priehľadnom tričku a celkovej siluete... Neviem ako vy, ale ja výnimočne viem, čo si zajtra oblečiem :-)

In her style: Paulina Vinterová, Summer 2011/part 1

This is how small Bratislava is. I remember seeing Paulina's picture about a year ago randomly on the internet - I loved what she was wearing and the way she looked sooo.... Nordic :-) So I put the picture in my Inspiration folder. About 6 months later I was having a morning coffee in one of my favorite cafes when she walked right in with a group of students. As they say, the rest is history. Since then we've met a few times on different occasions and I've discovered that not only is she a smart girl with a pleasantly laid back attitude, but she's also the creative owner and hand made artist of sweetshop. 

Style essentials: dress made by Paulina and her mom, H&M scarf, Camaieu boots, Parfois bag, DIY ring and pendant on the bag by sweetshop.

Bratislava je napríklad aj takto malá. Pamätám si, že asi pred rokom som na internete náhodou narazila na fotku jednej slečny, ktorá sa mi páčila štýlom oblečenia a takým..... severským výzorom :-) Fotku som si stiahla a uschovala medzi tie inšpiratívne. O pár mesiacov neskôr som sedela na polopracovnej rannej káve v jednej z mojich obľúbených kaviarní, keď si slečna z obrázku sadla aj so spolužiakmi k vedľajšiemu stolu. Tak. Odvtedy sme sa pri rôznych príležitostiach párkrát stretli a mne bolo potešením zistiť, že Paulíne to nielen páli, ale aj tvorí - a svoje výtvory predáva pod značkou sweetshop, aha.

In her style: Ľudmila Suchá, Spring 2011/part 4

 

Very exceptionally, there is a part 4 to this In her style, a little punk bonus before the Easter holidays, ha! We actually shot one more extra outfit, but that's for a project I am going to tell you about later, because I don't want to jinx it :-)
Ľudmila is a very sweet person who oozes style in everything she does - the way she talks and walks, and stands and looks into the camera... but there is also a wild side to her (ok, who hasn't one :-). She is also a dancer, spending summers on Ibiza as a member of the dancing and performing crews in the biggest clubs - and this leather vest is one of her favorite pieces. It was originally a jacket that she found in NOX and she waited for about a week before she got it. But since the brand is Amadeus Ibiza, she had to have it for good luck :-) She cut off the sleeves, stuffed the shoulders, added some studs and turned it into a punk style vest. She often gets "hunted" by punks asking for safety pins, so she has to re-stock it regularly. The chain on it is from Mango, the red guitar bag from a second hand on Ibiza, random leggins, corset, boots and glasses.

Veľmi výnimočne má tento In her style aj časť štvrtú, taký malý pankáčsky bonus pred Veľkonočnými sviatkami, ha! Ešte sme fotili aj piaty outfit, ale pre príležitosť, o ktorej vám poviem neskôr, aby som ju nezakríkla, aj keď ma dovtedy asi roztrhne! :-)
Ľudmila je veľmi milá osôbka, ktorá má štýl zakódovaný už len v spôsobe ako rozpráva, pohybuje sa, stojí a pozerá do fotoaparátu. Má však aj svoju divokú stránku (hore ruky, kto nemá :-), je tanečníčka a letá trávi na Ibize ako účastníčka herecko-tanečných show v najväčších kluboch - a táto vesta je jeden z jej obľúbených kúskov. Pôvodne to bola bunda, ktorú našla v NOXe, a týždeň okolo nej chodila. Značka to je Amadeus Ibiza a tak ju prosto musela mať, pre šťastie :-) Odstihla jej rukávy, do ramien všila vypchávky, obila cvokmi a premenila ju v pankáčsky kúsok. Bežne ju kvôli nej "naháňajú" pankáči a pýtajú si od nej zicherky, takže ju musí pravidelne dorábať. Reťaz je z Manga, kabelka v tvare gitary zo sekáča na Ibize, legíny, korzet, topánky a okuliare - čo dom dal.
Potešenie z fotenia bolo na mojej strane, veľká vďaka Ľudmilke a vďaka aj vám, čo ste ju tento týždeň sledovali! :-)

In her style: Ľudmila Suchá, Spring 2011/part 3

Let me start part 3 with Ľudmila on a personal note: I utterly completely don't understand why there is no classic black beret in my wardrobe. I need to change that, asap! In Ľudmila's wardrobe I saw a few in other colours as well. As you can see, here (and overall) she is influenced by the 80's, there's a little Working Girl meets cabaret vibe in it :-) She fell in love with the dress and stripped it down from the mannequin in the shop window, and bought it without trying on. The coat is about 4 sizes bigger, but has a nice leather lining and wide shoulders, so mostly she wears it with a belt, pinned at the back.
I asked Ľudmila for her shopping strategy in second hand shops and it is pretty basic: go for bigger, well sewn and lasting pieces like dresses, coats, jackets, as well as quality materials like leather, fur, silk or pure wool. She doesn't buy trousers simply because they are too worn in by their previous owners. She also says it is worth waiting for pieces to go on sale, but if you really love something, just go get it :-)

Na začiatok len tak zľahúčka poznámka do vlastných radov: ako to, že nemám v šatníku ani jednu jedinú klasickú čiernu baretku?! Napraviť, asap! V Ľudmilinom šatníku som ich videla ešte pár, v rôznych farbách. Jej šatník je (ako môžete vidieť aj tu) výrazne ovplyvnený 80-tymi rokmi, ako keď "Podnikavá dívka" navštívi kabaret :-) Do týchto šiat sa Ľudmila zaľúbila ešte vo výklade second handu a na mieste ich zvliekla z figuríny a brala bez skúšania. Kabát má tak o 4 čísla väčší, ale jeho kožený lem a vypchaté ramená stoja za to, a tak ho často nosí s opaskom, vzadu zopnutý spinkou.
Keď som sa Ľudmily pýtala na jej stratégiu nakupovania v sekáčoch, jej rady sú v zásade veľmi jednoduché: choďte po väčších, trvanlivých kúskoch dobrého strihu ako sú šaty, kabáty, saká a pozerajte aj na materiály ako sú koža, kožušiny, hodváb či vlna. Nohavice nekupuje v sekáčoch, pretože sú väčšinou príliš obnosené a tak prispôsobené už postave predošlého majiteľa. Tiež si rada počká na vyhliadnuté kúsky v zľave, ale ak vás niečo naozaj chytí za srdce, netreba čakať na zľavy :-)

Frustrated from the poor selection in shops, a few years ago, Ľudmila discovered the pleasure of shopping in second hand shops. This mustard little coat was her first buy and the start of her passion. Since then she loves the unique pieces you can find there - she goes after pieces with their own history, quality materials and good cuts. In Bratislava she mostly and most regularly goes through the Textile House stores and NOX. Nowadays she only buys a few basic items in shops - like lingerie, leggins and shoes, simply because she prefers them new. (Confession: I have the same thing with bags  - even though I own a few from second hand shops, I rarely use them, they just don't really feel good and mine. Seems like I have a really personal relationship with my bags. Hm, strange. End of confession). Everything else is thrifted, found, dug out, gifted and treasured. She often alters the clothes, designs her own and has a little business plan of her own brand in her head...

Style essentials of a 40's inspired outfit: coat, fur, belt, boots, earrings from second hand, random trousers, watch from her godmother's mom.

Na vrchole frustrovácie z obmedzeného výberu v obchodoch s oblečením, sa pár rokov dozadu Ľudmila začala pozerať po second handoch. Tento horčicovo žltý kabátik bol jej prvým kúskom a začiatkom nákupovacej vášne v second handoch. Dnes tvorí väčšinu jej šatníka oblečenie vyhrabané, vybojované, darované - zo sekáčov. Až na pár základných kúskov ako spodné prádlo, legíny, a často topánky, tie si Ľudmila radšej kupuje nové. (Priznávam, ja mám podobný pocit z kabeliek - pár zo sekáčov mám, ale prakticky ich nenosím, nejak mi prídu cudzie. Divné, ale asi mám príliš osobný vzťah s kabelkami. Hm. Len toľko :-) Na sekáčoch baví Ľudmilu nachádzať originálne kúsky s históriou, kvalitnými strihmi a materiálmi. V Bratislave robí často a pravidelne "nájazdy" do Textile House-ov a NOX-u. Niektoré kúsky potom ešte mení, prešíva, dopĺňa o vlastný dizajn. A po celý čas nosí v hlave biznisplán na vlastnú značku...

In her style: Ľudmila Suchá, Spring 2011/part 1

I've met Ľudmila at last year's Brillance Fashion Talent where she put together the choreography of the show. She had a funky combination of clothes so we started talking and when she told me she's practically living in pieces from second hand shops, I wanted to see more :-)
We spent an early spring afternoon together, her mum made us lemonade and pancakes (yum!) and it slowly turned out that Ľudmila is also a student of marketing, an aspiring stylist, an occasional model, a summer dancer and a total visual chameleon. In each and every outfit she looked like a different person - naturally, without any trying. It was so fascinating to watch, part 1 :-) Oh yes, and below is the black and white picture from when we met.

Style essentials: pants from her godmother from the 80's, all the rest second hand, random shoes.

Ľudmilu som stretla okolo minuloročnej Brillance Fashion Talent, kde robila choreografku prehliadky. Zaujala ma jej veselá kombinácia oblečenia, dali sme sa do reči a keď mi povedala, že šatník jej tvoria takmer iba kúsky zo second handov, moja zvedavosť zvíťazila :-)
Strávili sme spolu jedno skoré jarné popoludnie, jej mamina nám urobila citronádu a palacinky (mňam!) a postupne som zisťovala, že Ľudmila je aj študentka marketingu, mladá štylistka, príležitostná modelka, letná tanečnica a totálny chameleón. Z každého jedného outfitu na mňa pozerala iná osobnosť a pritom vo všetkých pôsobila veľmi prirodzene. Takže O tom, aké fascinujúce to bolo sledovať, časť prvá :-) A nižšie čb foto z večera, keď sme sa stretli.

In her style: Olga Karpecká, Winter 2011/part 3

One thing we talked about with Olga for a long time was the evolving of personal style. You could feel she has been strongly influenced by her grandma and living in the small town of Třinec, then coming to Prague and - as an aspiring model - told to dress more model-like, then leaving modeling, colouring her hair red, getting involved in styling and evolving and evolving.... That is what fascinates me. The wonderful ability of humans to evolve and grow and change... I am so thankful for that. And also thankful to Olga for a wonderful day :-)

Jedna z mnohých vecí, ktoré sme s Olgou preberali, bolo vyvíjanie sa osobného štýlu. Ona sama hovorila o vplyve babičky a živote v malom Třinci, premiestnení sa do veľkej Prahe, vplyve modelingu a jeho názore, že by sa mala obliekať viac ako modelka, zanechaní modelingu, novej farbe vlasov, skusov do sveta stylingu, vyvíjaní sa, menení sa a znovu vyvíjaní sa... A to je to, čo ma fascinuje. Ľudská vývojaschopnosť, privolania a prijatia zmien na rôznych úrovniach... A som za to vďačná. A rovnako som vďačná Oline za krásny deň :-)

One of the reasons I wanted to take Olga's pictures is that she has a mainly fashion blog, look (you can call her Durduin), where she mostly writes about fashion and her adventures as an aspiring stylist. But only very rarely would you see pictures of her, which is quite a shame, I think :-)
On the other hand I (as a copywriter by profession) admire that in a very visual world there is a blog discussing a very visual subject such as fashion, only by using words. Oh, once you're there, try to find her article about the red lipstick. Only in Czech, but so vivid! :-)
During the day, Olga took me to the local Megasekáč thrift store, where she is a regular, thrifting unique pieces for shootings. Or just for the love of it. Personally, I love my leather boots for 30 CZK :-)

Jeden z dôvodov, prečo som chcela Olgu fotiť, je jej poväčšinou fashion blog, aha (hovorte jej Durduin), na ktorom píše o móde a svojich zážitkoch začínajúcej štylistky. Ale iba veľmi výnimočne na ňom uvidíte jej fotky, čo uznajte, že je večná škoda. Preto sa to snažím náležite napraviť :-)
Na druhej strane (ako prácou deformovaný copywriter) obdivujem fakt, že v dnešnom na vizuálno tak silno zameranom svete niekto píše (s dôrazom na píše) o tak veľmi vizuálnej téme, akou móda je. Skúste sa tam pohrabať a nájsť môj obľúbený článok o červenom rúže. Mňam.
Počas dňa ma Olga zobrala do miestneho Megasekáča, kde evidentne patrí k štamgastom, a kde loví kúsky na fotenia. Alebo len tak z lásky k loveniu. Ja som so svojimi koženými botičkami za 30 CZK preveľmi spokojná :-)

In her style: Olga Karpecká, Winter 2011/part 1

There will be no preview to this sixth edition of In her style, we'll go in medias res. Simply because that's how Olga is to me - no dancing around, no preview this, preview that... look, this is what you get. So pure, clear and outspoken. Like when you suddenly meet people not touched by the survival fakeness of big cities. Since I first met her on the street, I wanted to take her picture again. To me, Olga has this very intriguing quality - she is very straightforward, but at the same time you can get lost in the distant worlds flickering in her eyes. Welcome to the first part of this journey :-)

Tentokrát nebude žiadne Preview, iba in medias res. In her style s Olgou Karpeckou. Lebo ona mi taká príde - žiadne tanečky okolo, motúziky sem, motúziky tam. Zrazu je všetko jasné, zrozumiteľné a čisté. Ako keď nečakane stretnete ľudí nedotknutých nutnosťou pretvárky veľkých miest. Odkedy som ju prvýkrát náhodou stretla na ulici, chcela som ju ešte raz mať pre objektívom. Olga má tú zvláštnosť, že je veľmi priamočiara, ale zároveň máte z jej pohľadu pocit, že je jednou nohou v úplne inom, záhadnom svete. Vitajte. Toto je prvá časť šiestej edície In her style :-)
