2. Romi, the lawyer
That's right, I would have never guessed it either, but Romi's regular job is at a law firm. She's a really smiley person, but thinking about it, I can just totally see her getting all serious and focused on business :-) Romi put this outfit together as her usual work day outfit. Yup, screaming red boots, walking through corridors of courts and offices, raising eyebrows I am sure :-) But hello, serious business doesn't have to mean boring...
What also fascinates me is that Romi had this drive for independence since ever (meaning 14 years old), so her jobs included highlight such as: washing car windows at a gas station, cleaning houses (I've tried it with hotels and it's not fun...), sales person at a boutique, playing in tv ads, styling for magazines and music videos, serving as a director's assistant and so on. More about her creative side tomorrow, same place, same time :-)

Style essentials: H&M T-shirt, Marni trousers, boyfriend blazer by Janka Gavalcova, Louboutin boots, Louis Vuitton scarf, Burberry watch, random necklace.

2. Právnička Romi
Je to tak, bola som rovnako prekvapená, ale Romi je vyštudovaná právnička, pracujúca v právnickej firme. Pôsobí ako veľmi milá a usmievavá osôbka, ale keď sa nad tým lepšie zamyslím, úplne si ju viem predstaviť ako vážnu, odhodlanú právničku, s ktorou by som sa pohádať nechcela :-) 
Tento outfit dala Romi dokopy ako typický pre jej každodennú prácu. Presne tak, maximálne červené topánky, ktoré si sebavedomo klopkajú po chodbách a kanceláriách súdnych budov :-) Lebo však kto povedal, že keď ste v práve, musíte byť aj nudní... 
Tiež ma fascinuje, že Romi má v sebe už od nepamäti (asi tak od 14. rokov presnejšie) silnú túžbu po samostatnosti, takže zoznam jej pracovných skúseností zahŕňa perly ako: umývanie okien áut na benzínke, upratovanie rodinných domov (toto som skúšala v hoteli v US, žiadna sranda...), predavačka v butiku, herečka v tv reklamách, stylistka pre časopisy a hudobné videá a tiež asistentka režiséra. O jej kreatívnej duši viac už zajtra - a tu. 

Style essentials: tričko H&M, nohavice Marni, boyfriend-štýl sako Janka Gavalcova, topánky Louboutin, šál Louis Vuitton, hodinky Burberry, random náhrdelník.

The time was flying by in a swoosh, as I spent an afternoon around this energizing, sweet, really smart, bright and down to earth young woman. She lives in a fantasy house outside a small town close to Bratislava with her boyfriend, her amazing closet (!) and their 4 dogs. Presenting two of them (Alica and Uško) and one of her many faces:

1. Romi, the activist

One thing I really admire about her is that she seems so in charge of her life (my personal mission impossible...), and as it happens, in charge of many dogs' lifes. Romi is the co-founder of "Pes v núdzi", an organization rescuing dogs in need and finding them new homes. She's responsible for the organization's marketing, finances, communication and legal activities. 

And even though she loves fashion (she's a pro in this field, trust me :-), she has no worries about messing up her clothes while rescuing hurt dogs and driving them to the vet in her car. She's a regular at the dry cleaners so when she brings in yet another trench coat covered in blood, they only ask who she has been rescuing this time. Awww, I love a stylish woman with a heart bigger than her closet :-)

Style essentials: Romeo and Julia leggings, See by Chloe cardigan, House of Harlow boots, hat from a small shop in Tuscany, random necklace from Bangkok, T-shirt by Pes v núdzi.

Čas si len tak letel v spoločnosti tejto energizujúcej, veľmi milej a šikovnej mladej ženy, ktorej to naozaj myslí. Spolu s priateľom bývajú v krásnom, pokojnom dome nad malým mestom nedaľeko Bratislavy, kde jej spoločnosť robia tiež jej šatník (!) a štyria psy. Predstavujem vám dvoch z nich (Alicu a Uška) a jednu z mnohých tvári Romi:
1. aktivistka Romi
Jedna z vecí, ktorými ma Romi dostala, je, že má život pevne v rukách (čo je osobne moja veľmi veľká výzva...), ako aj životy mnohých psíkov. Romi je spoluzakladateľka organizácie Pes v núdzi, ktorej prioritou je záchrana týraných psov a umiesnenie ich do nových domovov. Marketingové, finančné, komunikačné a právne činnosti organizácie má na starosti práve ona.
A napriek tomu, že Romi módu miluje (verte mi, v tejto oblasti je profík, ovláda napríklad názvy modelov topánok od YSL :-), nemá problém zašpiniť si svoje oblečenie popri tom, ako psíky zbiera, nachádza a zachraňuje a vezie ich k veterinárovi. V čistiarni ju už dôverne poznajú a keď im donesie zasa raz zakrvavený trench coat, len sa spýtajú, koho zasa zachraňovala. Štýlová žena so srdcom väčším, ako je jej šatník, sa proste nedá nemilovať :-)

Okay, if there's somebody who doesn't know about the launch of the Lanvin collection for H&M, count yourself lucky :-))) Just kidding, of course, but fact is, that the people over at H&M are doing a pretty good marketing and communication job with the bloggers, so hats down to that!

Obviously and kind of strangely :-), I was invited to the Prague H&M showroom too, and counted myself lucky, because of course I wanted to see and touch the long advertised and awaited collection (well, Hello!), plus I got to know or at least say Hi! to some of the Czech and Slovak bloggers (and some, I just unluckily missed...)

I have to confess, that the presence of so many bloggers with cameras got me all feeling strange about taking pictures, especially of stylish people (which I normally love) so here are just a few mood ones :-) More elaborated reports from Slovak bloggers are provided here by Le Plee, Becca and Foly.

Good news: as Katarina from the showroom has said, she will be in charge of the Slovak bloggers, so I hope more of them will get invitations :-)

Takže, ak niekto z vás ešte nevie o uvedení kolekcie Lanvin pre H&M, považujte sa za šťastne nepoškvrnenú menšinu :-) Robím si srandu samozrejme, pretože faktom je, že marketing a komunikácia H&M šlape na plné obrátky a z môjho deformovaného profesionálneho hľadiska to robia skvele, čo sa týka spolupráce s blogermi.

Viditeľne a zvláštnym spôsobom som bola tiež pozvaná do H&M showroomu v Prahe na prezentáciu Lanvin kolekcie a považovala som sa za šťastnú, pretože dlho teasovanú a očakávanú kolekciu som vidieť chcela (haló, jasné, že hej), navyše som mala príležitosť naživo pozdraviť aspoň niektorých slovenských a českých blogerov/blogerky, aj keď niektorých som zase nešťastne prepásla...

Priznávam, že počet blogerov s foťákmi ma odradil od fotenia, najmä tých štýlových ľudí (čo za normálnych okolností robím rada), takže odo mňa len pár náladových :-) Podrobnejšie reporty nájdete u slovenských blogeriek Le Plee, Becca a Foly.

Dobrá správa: milá Katarína zo showroomu povedala, že bude mať viac času a priestoru na slovenských blogerov, takže verím, že viacero z nich dostane v budúcnosti pozvánky :-)

A ešte špeciálne poďakovanie tuto Darii za milú spoločnosť počas dňa :-)

A little afternoon walk, Bratislava streetstyle

It was a cool October Saturday afternoon and this lovely lady was taking her regular walk around the castle of Bratislava. It took all my effort and verbal skills (and I have a few...:-) to persuade her to take her picture. To me, there was something undefineably stylish about her, her little bag, the combination of the slightly big checkered coat and striped skirt and her lovely colour combination (yeah, I know, black and white film again :-). While I am personally not a big fan of her fur collar, I assumed it's simply family heirloom, and asked her where her very British looking coat was from. She gave me a little smile: "You are not going to believe it. From a second hand shop..."
She also told me she has neither a computer, nor an e-mail. So I promised her to print out the pictures and send them to her by post. Definitely my pleasure to do so :-)

Bola sobota popoludnie, slnko práve zachádzalo, vietor sa dvíhal, keď som zastavila túto milú pani na svojej prechádzke okolo Bratislavského hradu. Musela som použiť všetky svoje presvedčovacie schopnosti (a zopár ich teda mám...:-), aby sa nechala odfotiť. Nejakým neopísateľným spôsobom na mňa totižto pôsobila štýlovo. Jej malá kabelka, kombinácia troška veľkého kockovaného kabátu a pásikovanej sukne, veselej šatky a celkovej farebnosti (ja viem, môžem o tom tak rozprávať, keď už som mala založený ten čiernobiely film :-). Jej kožušinový golier síce nie je podľa môjho vkusu, ale brala som to ako rodinný poklad a spýtala som sa jej odkiaľ má svoj veľmi anglicky pôsobiaci kabát. Váhavo sa na mňa usmiala: "Neuveríte. Zo second handu..."
A keďže nemá počítač ani e-mail, sľúbila som jej dať spraviť fotky a poslať ich poštou. Potešenie na mojej strane :-)

Pink and leather, Bratislava streetstyle

This Little Miss Sunshine plays the violin and dances hip-hop. That's just the best combination ever. Just like a pink tutu and a leather jacket, unbeatable :-) Have a sunny November weekend!

Táto malá slečna je vraj účastníčka rôznych talentových súťaží, každopádne jej kombinácia hrania na husle a tancovania hip-hopu ma dostala. Taká kombinácia je proste najviac. Niečo ako ružový tyl s koženou bundou :-) Alebo slnečný novembrový víkend. Tak si ho užite :-)

Story of a dress, part 1

 

I believe it's all about people, their energy and passion. 

Meet my friend Mili, for example, who works at a bank, at its Fund, to be exact. Every year, the Fund of Tatra banka honors selected Slovak artists for their work in the fields of theater, music, literature, fine arts and audiovisual arts. 

And Mili, with her sense and passion for all things beautiful, came up and pushed through the idea of supporting also the field of design, specifically fashion designers. Starting NOW, every year a talented Slovak fashion designer will be supported, and given the task of creating a special dress for the host of the Award show (for years, it has been Adela Banášová). The dress will be then put into the collection of all the other dresses to come - hopefully creating a unique line of designer dresses :-) Genius, if you ask me!

The first dress is being created by the wonderful Mária Štraneková (as a part of her actual collection Phalaenopsis) and I was asked if I would like to document the making of it. And basically take part in this wonderful project. Yeah, like I would have to think about it :-) 

Introducing part one: Pictures from the first fitting of the dress and a sneak peak into Maria's atelier. And a big Thanks to the girls for a wonderful afternoon! :-)

Som presvedčená o tom, že všetko je o ľuďoch, o ich energii a vášni, ktorú prenášajú na iných. 

Tak napríklad kamarátka Mili, ktorá robí v banke, konkrétne jej Nadácii. Každý rok Nadácia Tatra banky udeľuje ocenenia umelcom v rôznych disciplínach: audiovizuálnej, divadelnej, hudobnej, literárnej a výtvarnej.

Mili, so svojím citom a vášňou pre krásno ako také, si vymyslela a presadila myšlienku o podporovaní oblasti dizajnu, konkrétne módnych návrhárov. Počínajúc TERAZ bude každý rok jeden talentovaný módny návrhár podporený spôsobom, že vytvorí na príležitosť a mieru šaty moderátorke večera (už tradične ňou bude tento rok Adela Banášová). Šaty potom budú odkúpené a stanú sa súčasťou budúcej kolekcie šiat - a časom tak vytvoria unikátnu zbierku originálnych modelov :-) Podľa mňa geniálne!

Prvé šaty v poradí dostala vytvoriť úžasná návrhárka Mária Štraneková (ako súčasť svojej aktuálnej kolekcie Phalaenopsis) a mne bola ponúknutá možnosť dokumentovať priebeh tvorby týchto šiat a v zásade byť súčasťou projektu. Hádajte, ako dlho som nad tým premýšľala :-)

Predstavujem časť prvú: fotky z prvej skúšky šiat, respektíve ich náčrtu, a kuk do Mayinho ateliéru. Ďakujem dievčatám za veľmi príjemné popoludnie! :-)

Navrhnuté talentovanou módnou návrhárkou. Ušité v ateliéry plnom inšpirácie. Ako súčasť aktuálnej kolekcie. Vďaka žene s vášňou a víziou.  A na mieru ženy s gráciou. To je začiatok príbehu týchto šiat. Na pokračovanie... :-)

Katarina and her bike, Bratislava streetstyle

Katarina studies screenwriting. But as she said, she can only write about what she has emotionally experienced. Yet in her there is something undescribable, she's like a magical creature from a paralell universe. Sorry for the overload of her pictures. Couldn't help it :-)

Katka študuje scenáristiku. Ako povedala, dokáže písať len o tom, čo si už sama zažila. V nej samotnej je niečo neopísateľné, pôsobí ako magická bytosť z paralelného sveta. Ospravedlňujem sa za veľkú dávku jej fotiek. Nemôžem za to :-)

I loved her in black and white. But colour suits her too. Especially red. First thing in spring, I am getting a cute city bicycle.

V čiernobielom sa mi páčila veľmi. Ale farba jej sluší tiež. A červená obzvlášť. Nech je tu už jar, kupujem si štýlový mestský bicykel.
