Don't you sometimes feel like you just want to wrap yourself in an oversized piece of garment? Get all comfy and casual and just cuddle up with a good book.... I know I do right now :-) after last night's all night photo shoot for a fashion related advertising campaign. Hey Mister Tambourine Man, Bratislava streetstyle

What made me take the picture in this case, wasn't that much the clothes - if looked at piece by piece, I don't love them. What gives this picture its atmosphere is the personality of the guy (who is actually a well-known street performer in Bratislava, his act is playing like 10 instruments at the same time, don't think he plays the tambourine though :-).
There is something movie-like about him: with the tipped back straw hat, the eyebrows pulled together, the strong profile. It's his personality that makes this photo interesting to me.

Vintage bag, Bratislava streetstyle

I saw this girl's silhouette from far away and I was actually running after her to shoot her. Only from closer I noticed the colour combination that matches her so perfectly. Since I was in a hurry to catch the movie Brothers (excellent, by the way) and she was on her way to meet somebody, I forgot to ask her name. But she looks like a Julia to me :-) So maybe she can send me an e-mail with her real name.

Oh, and her beautiful vintage bag is her mom's.

Inspiration: Hilbert sisters

If you happen to visit Bratislava in the summer and would like to take home a different kind of souvenir, pay a visit to the Hilbert sisters' stall on the Main Square. All their goodies are hand made and beautifully designed (plus they feature other young designers as well), which makes them a real treasure among the usual tourist T-shirts, mugs and fridge magnets.

I simply love the fact that by renting a stall they reached out to the streets with their design, offering an alternative to the more demanding visitors. You can also check out their online shop here. Enjoy!

The smile, Bratislava streetstyle

Okay, I know, her eyes are closed (she was a bit shy while her boyfriend was watching her getting photographed) and since I shoot on film, I couldn't check the picture on any display - my bad. Promise to be more careful next time :-) But if she sends me an e-mail we could have another go at it :-)

Nevertheless, I still love her smile and clean, yet casual colour combination. It seems to me that right now this white-blue-brown palette is ruling the city as a perfect transitioning from spring to summer.
