At the Gombold újra jury session, Budapest

While at the Central European Fashion Days in Budapest, I was so happy to sneak into the jury session at the talent competition Gombold újra (meaning something in the lines of "button it again"). I have seen some juries work and took part in some myself (mainly at advertising festivals), so I was really curious to see a fashion competition to be judged. Members of the jury from Slovakia and the Czech Republic (top photo): fashion designers Mária Štraneková and Jakub Polanka.

Počas Central European Fashion Days v Budapešti som sa veľmi rada prešmykla do miestnosti, kde prebiehalo porotcovanie talentovej súťaže Gombol újra (v preklade niečo ako "zapni si to znova"). Nejaké poroty pri práci som už videla a sama som sa nejakých zúčastnila (aj keď skôr na reklamných festivaloch), takže ma nesmierne bavilo sledovať porotcovanie módy. Členmi poroty boli aj slovenský a český návrhár (foto hore): Mária Štraneková a Jakub Polanka.

Also member of the jury, folk singer Márta Sebestyén. Do you know Marta's Song by Deep Forrest? Or this song from the movie English Patient? Yup, that's her  :-)
The Gombold újra talent competition was held for Hungarian designers in four categories. All the collections were supposed to be inspired by the countries of the Visegrad Four: their traditions, history, visuality, symbols, you name it. Here the worthy winners:

Členkou poroty bola aj speváčka Márta Sebestyén. Poznáte Marta's Song od Deep Forrest? Alebo túto pesničku z filmu Anglický pacient? Tak, to je ona :-)
Talentová súťaž Gombold újra bola otvorená pre maďarských dizajnérov v štyroch kategóriách. Všetky kolekcie mali byť inšpirované krajinami Vyšehradskej štvorky: ich tradíciami, históriou, vizualitou, symbolmi, vtipmi, čo len chcete. Tu hodnotní víťazi:

In the Newcomer Fashion category: Csík Orsolya inspired by beds. And sleeping.

V kategórii módy Nováčik: Csík Orsolya inšpirovaná posteľami. A spánkom.

In the Newcomer Accessories category: Kovács Ágnes with these amazing leather structured bags (on the left).

V kategórii doplnkov Nováčik: Kovács Ágnes s týmito nádhernými koženými prepletanými taškami (na ľavej strane fotky).

In the category for already established designers, called Old hands Fashion: the already mentioned NUBU brand.
V kategórii módy už zabehnutých značiek, zvanej Old hands: už nedávno spomínané dizajnérky NUBU.

And in the Old hand Accessories category: Erdei Ildikó Virág and her brand Masamod with these yummy headpieces that the jury couldn't resist to try on:

Vintage streetstyle, round 4: Bikini

A very special vintage summer post to make it through these days :-) This pictures of her grandmother, Margita, I got from Terézia L. Taken on Tehelné pole public pool in Bratislava, this was allegedly the very first bikini in Bratislava (!) and the gorgeous Margita made it herself. Straw hats up and cheers to the sun!

Špeciálny letný vintage post na prežitie najbližších dní :-) Za fotku jej starej mamy Margity ďakujem Terézii L. Fotené na bratislavskom kúpalisku na Tehelnom poli, toto boli vraj prvé bikiny v Bratislave (!), ktoré si osudová Terézia šila sama. Klobúk hore a slnku a vode zdar!

There's a new bike shop in town. Slowatch has finally decided to open a shop with vintage frames, T-shirts and lots of other accessories (so now it's two in one with Lomography). Here a video from their Grand opening night. And a few other highly clickable links for you:
Ta-dám, Slowatch sa konečne rozhodol ich lásku k bicyklom previesť do kamennej predajne, a tak v nej nájdete originálne rámy, vintage cyklistické tričká a ďalšie cyklistické nevyhnutnosti (a keďže je to zdielaný priestor s Lomography, tak stále aj lomofoťáky). 1. Just discovered a Slovak brand of glasses made from recycled wood, called Smugllers, here's a cool video of their work. And you can find them on FB here.
Práve som objavila slovenskú značku slnečných okuliarov z recyklovaného dreva, volajú sa Smugllers, a tu aha pekné video o tom, ako okuliare vznikajú. Nájsť ich môžete na FB, tu.

2. After the recent clutches with a concrete detail now I found these wooden beauties. They are beyond my budget, but you can still dream, right?
Po nedávnych clutch-och s cementovým detailom ma teraz zaujali tieto drevené krásy. Sú síce mimo moju peňaženku, ale sníva sa o nich dobre :-)

3. And there is no stopping wood: the lovely Drevená Helena (wooden Helen) just started a blog, showing her pieces of clothing and accessories. Yum! 
Do tretice všetko drevené: nežná Drevená Helená si založila blog so svojimi kúskami oblečenia a doplnkov, teším sa!

Bonus: One day I'll be working from this surf office. And have a wooden surf. Ciao! 
Jedného dňa budem aj ja pracovať z tohto surferského officu. S dreveným surfom. Ciao!

Dalma, at the CEFD in Budapest

I met Dalma at the CEFD showroom where she was presenting her label, Je Suis Belle. And yes, she is. In jeans (see the star on the backside?) and earring from her own label. This Hungarian fashion thing is starting to get to me.

Dalmu som stretla v CEFD showroome, kde prezentovala svoju značku Je Suis Belle. A ona teda je. V džínsoch (vidíte hviezdu na ich zadnej strane?) a náušnici vlastnej značky. Maďarská móda ma začína baviť.

At the CEFD showroom, Budapest

Part of the Central European Fashion Days was the buyer's showroom, where the participating designers from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic were displaying their collections. It was fun to walk and poke around, try on some really cool pieces, or talk to the designers.

Súčasťou Central European Fashion Days (časť programu musela byť kvôli povodniam preložená na iný víkend) bol aj buyer's showroom, kde návrhári z Maďarska, Poľska, Slovenska a Českej republiky vystavovali svoje kolekcie. Bolo super sa medzi nimi prechádzať, prehrabávať sa, dotýkať sa, dokonca aj skúšať.

Participating Slovak designers were: Mária Štraneková with her Dust collection (on the left). Others: Lenka Sršňová, Marcel Holubec.

Zo slovenských dizajnérov sa showroomu zúčastnila Mária Štraneková s kolekciou Dust (vľavo). Ďalšími na CEFD boli Lenka Sršňová a Marcel Holubec.

The showroom was held at Design Terminál, a building formerly served as a bus terminal. It also includes a cafe and design shop with this lovely girl behind the counter :-) 

Showroom bol v priestoroch Design Terminálu, budovy, ktorá dávno slúžila ako autobusová stanica. Jej súčasťou je aj kaviareň s dizajn shopom a touto milou slečnou za pultom :-)

 

The catwalk shows had to be postponed because of the floods in Budapest to another weekend during which I was already in Portugal. BUT - you can see all the shows here. Or all in one video, on the bottom of this page.

Časťou, ktorá musela byť kvôli povodniam preložená, boli módne prehliadky a finále súťaže mladých talentov. Ja som už v tom druhom termíne brázdila Portugalsko, ALE - všetky prehliadky Visegrád Fashion Show si môžete pozrieť tu. Alebo celý večer v jednom videu, na spodku tejto stránky.

Matthias, at the CEFD in Budapest

So before Portugal and all the traveling, there were the Central European Fashion Days in Budapest from which I am still owing you some pictures and stories. Like Matthias' very cool all-striped look (by the brand Schirach Rosenthal) taken at Budapest's very popular chill out place Froccsterasz. Matthias came to the CEFD from Vienna where he studies literature and works as a writer for the Faux Fox Magazine. There you go. Complete intel :-)

Ešte pred Portugalskom a slnkom a dovolenkou, sa diali Central European Fashion Days v Budapešti, z ktorých vám ešte stále dlžím nejaké fotky a storky. Ako napríklad Matthiasov úžasný celopásikovaný outfit (od značky Schirach Rosenthal), nafotený na populárnom budapeštianskom chill out mieste s plážovým nádychom, Froccsterasz. Matthias prišiel na CEFD z Viedne, kde študuje literatúru a priespieva do magazínu Faux Fox. Tak. A viete všetko :-)

At the street market, Lisbon

Digging around at the street market around Principe Real park, this was the most perfect vintage heaven. Plus once I discovered the lady selling the stuff, I fell in love with her dark locks, red lips and the gentle poruguese "saudade" in her eyes (or I least I like to thing that it was :-). Have a wonderful weekend!

Ako sme sa prehrabávali víkendovým trhom okolo parku na Principe Real, v jednom zo stánkov sme narazili na nádherný vintage raj. A ešte keď som objavila majiteľku všetkej tej krásy, úplne ma dostala: tmavé kadery, červené pery a tak typicky portugalský pocit "saudade" v očiach (aspoň si myslím, že to bolo ono :-) Krásny víkend vám/nám!

Daydreamer, Lisbon

Yes, I know this shot is blurred. This Finnish girl was so gentle and shy in front of the camera that finally the picture that portraits her the best is a blurred one. Because there are days you spend daydreaming, without wanting anyone to capture them.... (love her headscarf though, in a city where everyone was wearing hats...)

Áno, viem, že tá fotka je rozmazaná. Táto slečna z Fínska pôsobila pred objektívom tak nežne, nesmelo, až uzavrete, že v konečnom efekte ju najviac vystihuje rozmazaná fotka. Pretože sú momenty a dni, ktoré keď trávime zasnívané, nepotrebujeme, aby ich niekto zachytával.... (aj tak ma baví jej šatka v meste, kde všetci nosia klobúky...)

Long time no Prêt-à-click :-) Let me make it up with a few pics from Gant's AW 2013 presentation at cafe Shtoor. In the biggest heat with the very freshly preppy Gant girls (last two pics. Shoot, I wish I could master the "girls with ties" style) showed us some pieces inspired by the illustrator Norman Rockwell. So it seems like this illustration (just scroll down a bit) was the inspiration for this Gant jacket. And some other highly clickable links for you:
Dlho tu nebol žiadny Prêt-à-click, uff. Naprávam to s extra dávkou fotografií z prezentácie kolekcie Gant jeseň/zima 2013. V najväčšej horúčave so sviežo preppy oblečenými dievčatami z Gantu (na posledných dvoch fotkách. Tajne verím, že jedného dňa aj ja zvládnem ženskú verziu nosenia kravaty. tak). Najviac sa mi páčila myšlienka kúskov inšpirovaných ilustráciami Normana Rockwella. Podľa môjho súkromného pátrania by napríklad táto ilustrácia (zoscrollujte) mohla byť predlohou tejto bunde. A bavia ma aj tieto sviečky, teraz vo výpredaji. Tajne ochkám aj nad tými dekadentnými vankúšmi by Christian Lacroix.
