Fashion show of the graduates 2015: the bachelors.

Every year I am looking forward to the closing fashion show of the graduate students of fashion design in Bratislava. To bring you a little overview and context of what to expect this Thursday evening (where-when-how info about the show here), I took a little sneak peak into the atelier. This year, there is quite a handful of graduates, so let's start with the bachelors (featured on the picture with the masters as well as their professor, Júlia Sabová):

Každý rok sa teším na absolventské prehliadky študentov módneho návrhárstva a rada nakúkam do ich ateliéru na VŠVU. Aby ste aj vy mali prehľad a kontext toho, čo vás tento štvrtok večer čaká (kedy-kde-ako info k prehliadke nájdete tu).
A keďže tento rok sa urodilo absolventov bohato, začneme bakalármi (na fotke aj s magistermi a s vedúcou katedry, pani Júliou Sabovou):

Terézia Feňovčíková: It's Alive! It's Alive! collection

Fascinated by the world of horror movies, their visuality, colours, structure, heroes and the emotions they awake, in her collection, Terézia tries to mirror their message into clothing. Each piece of the collection is carefully thought through and visualises one of their aspect. Probably the most structured collection philosophically and with a fascinating theme, I am curious how it will come through on the catwalk.

Fascinovaná svetom hororových filmov, ich vizualitou, farebnosťou, štruktúrou, postavami a emóciami, ktoré vyvolávajú, Terézia vo svojej kolekcii prenáša ich posolstvo do odevu. Každý kúsok kolekcie odráža jeden aspekt a je premyslený. Pravdepodobne najhlbšie rozanalyzovaná kolekcia s fascinujúcou témou, som zvedavá ako sa predá na móle.

Kristína Poláčková: Flower collection

Based on the structure and colours of the fuchsia flower, Kristína created a very feminine collection. The shades varying from gentle pink, wild fuchsia to statement red, with hidden little green and white details just like in case of the flower itself. The cuts are not experimental, the collection is more likely to catch attention by its straight out loveliness.

Vychádzajúc z tvaroslovia a farieb kvetu fuksie, Kristína vytvorila veľmi ženskú kolekciu. Odtiene kveta prechádzajú od nežne ružovej cez divokú fuksiu až po žiarivo červenú, so schovanými zelenými a bielymi detailami, rovnako ako u kvetov samotných. Strihovo nejde o žiadny experiment, kolekcia skôr zaujme svojou priamočiarosťou a páčivosťou.

Jakub Straka - Défanse collection

Continuing with his work done at Liběna Rochová's Prague atelier, Jakub works with the idea and feeling of protection, as well as the female strength and heritage in his family. The clean cut collection works with linen that was woven by his great-grandmother and stored in his grandmother's closet. The natural linen is combined with PVC that also stands for protecting the inside, the body. The cleanness and simplicity of the collection is refreshing at the same time.

Kolekcia je pokračovaním Jakubovej práce v pražskom ateliéry Liběny Rochovej. Pracuje s myšlienkou a pocitom ochrany voči okoliu, ako aj ženskej sily a tradície v jeho rodine. Materiálovo vychádza z ľanového plátna, ktoré tkala jeho prababka, a ktoré sa uchovalo v babkinej skrini. Prírodný ľan dopĺňa PVC fólia, ktorá symbolizuje tiež ochranný obal. Čistota a jednoduchosť kolekcie pôsobí zároveň veľmi sviežo.

Terézia Šišková - Tales collection

Based on her own short story and illustrations about 4 heroes, Terézia created her fashion story and fashion heroes resulting in a colourfull, unisex collection with a sporty edge and full of little details. Her heroes meet and mingle, exchange clothes and roles, completely funtioning in their own world and Terézia's fantasy. The collection is like a scrap book, put together from different materials, sources, stories. It feels very free spirited and happy, Thursday is going to show how will it finally hold together on the catwalk.

Na základe autorskej poviedky a ilustrácií štyroch hrdinov vznikla Teréziina kolekcia. Jej hrdinovia sa stávajú postavami svojich módnych príbehov, stretávajú sa, menia si oblečenie aj úlohy, sami vo svojom svete a v Teréziinej fantázii. Výsledkom je farebná unisex kolekcia so športovým podtónom, plná malých detailov. Ona vlastne aj tak vznikala, postupne, ako kniha výstrižkov a spomienok, tvorila sa z rôznych materiálov, zdrojov, príbehov. Ide z nej pocit slobody a veselosti, štvrtok ukáže ako bude pôsobiť ako celok na móle.

Lucia Švecová

Consistently continuing in the spirit of her previous collection, Lucia's work is inspired by her childhood memories. One part of it is based around her father's old Levi's jacket (in the spirit of male traditions he kept buying and wearing the same jacket for years). The other part is put together from memories of what Lucia used to wear - clean cut, almost 2D dresses with details like coll collars, cute buttons, zigzag edges, shiny raincoats. See through pieces of fabric and fading colours are a reference to fading childhood memories. Lucia is one of the students already working on their own labels. See you on Thursday!

Lucia konzistentne pokračuje v duchu svojej predošlej kolekcie, pričom inšpiráciou sa vracia do detstva. Jedna časť kolekcie je postavená na starej Levi's bunde jej otca (ktorý v štýle mužskej tradičnosti si roky opakovane kupoval a nosil ten istý model bundy). Druhá časť sa skladá zo spomienok na to, čo nosila Lucia - jednoducho strihané, takmer 2D šaty s detailami ako oblé golieriky, milé gomíky, precízne zúbkované lemy, lesklé prštiplášte. Priehľadné detaily a vyblednuto pôsobiace látky sú referenciou na vyblednutie ľudských spomienok. Lucia je jednou zo študentiek, ktorá už teraz pracuje na tvorbe svojej vlastnej značky. Vidíme sa vo štvrtok!
