Zora, Pohoda festival

During a very hot festival day patches of bright, bold yellow kept appearing somewhere in the crowd and then disappearing again, until I caught up with them by sunset: Zora and her refreshingly yellow dress.

Počas horúceho festivalového dňa sa mi z času na čas pred očami zjavil kúsok žiarivej, živej žltej v dave, a potom zasa rýchlo zmizol. Až podvečer sme na seba narazili v plnej kráse: Zora a jej osviežujúco žlté šaty.

The graduates

It's been a crazy month working and moving (I guess you noticed, but no, I wasn't on holiday, more like "all work, no play"... sorry about that), so I still own you tons of information and pictures.
So, where do we start... with young student talents! Love them all, and their shows. This one was the closing show of the graduating fashion students of the Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. The students guided by Mária Štraneková showed some remarkable talents - I was happy to see many prints and bold colours and many of the clothes I would love to see in my closet as well :-)
Personally, I fell in love with Daniela Pešková's wood-inspired collection (picture above) with beautiful prints and pieces of wood incorporated in the clothes. And Mirka Horká's closing men's collection (bottom pictures) was truly fabulous with a very international feel to it.

Posledný mesiac bol šialene pracovný a rekonštruovaco-sťahovací (asi ste si všimli nižšiu frekvenciu postov, čo ma mrzí, ale nie, nebola som na dovolenke. ešte), takže vám dlhujem tonu informácií, fotiek a zážitkov. Taaakže, kde začať... absolventskými prehliadkami! Mám ich naozaj rada, človek cíti tie prekypujúce možnosti a sviežosť. 
V Zlíne sa konala prehliadka absolventov Ateliéru dizajnu odevu Univerzity Tomáša Bati. Pod vedením Márie Štranekovej predviedli bakalári a magistri slušné kolekcie - osobne ma potešili odvážne potlače a používanie farieb, a mnohé kúsky by som s radosťou prijala do šatníka :-)
Osobne som sa zaľúbila do kolekcie Daniely Peškovej, inšpirovanej drevom (fotka hore) s krásnou potlačou a kúskami dreva zapracovanými do odevu. A pánska kolekcia Mirky Horkej (na obrázkoch dole) bola zaslúžene záverečným vrcholom, bola čistá, jasná, skvelá, so sviežim závanom medzinárodnosti.

...then you probably just missed this first street style photo exhibition! It will travel around the world though, so look out :-) The event called Laws of Attraction looks at what is that magic moment that draws in and inspires street style photographers all around the world. Ak ste sa náhodou práve vybrali do San Francisca, práve ste prišli o event prvej výstavy street style fotografií z celého sveta (neva, som v tom s vami :-). Výstava má cestovať svetom, tak sa majte na pozore! Volá sa Laws of Attraction a pomocou fotografií skúma tie čarovné momenty, ktoré inšpirujú street style fotografov na celom svete. Hats BySju

So this is how you turn your style and love for hats into your own brand :-) A very fresh and young one right now, but with big hopes. The beautiful and smart Sju has had a long time love affair with hats, obviously. I first met her at last year's Grape, here, and inspired by her style and personality, asked her to be part of the "1 shirt, 13 women" project, here.
Since she got constantly asked where does she have her hats from, at that point she was already talking about one day having her own line of hats. Being the girl of action she is, she picked a traditional Czech hat making company for manufacturing the hats, put together the first colour and style range and as you are reading this, the first pieces are already finished, the first photos are being shot in London (where Sju lives and works), and a web page is in the works. And you can already see the first pieces on BySju's FB page.
These pictures were taken at Pohoda festival, where she was wearing the simple black piece from the collection (and here comes my favorite denim vest again... :-). Have a great week, all!

Príbeh o tom, ako sa z osobného štýlu a lásky ku klobúkom stáva vlastná značka :-) Síce veľmi čerstvá a mladá ešte, ale s veľkými plánmi. Milá to Sju má ku klobúkom už dlho viac než pozitívny vzťah. Prvýkrát som ju stretla na minuloročnom Grape festivale, tu aha, a inšpirovaná jej štýlom som jej navrhla, aby bola súčasťou projektu "1 košeľa, 13 žien", tu. 
A keďže jej neustále niekto pýtal odkiaľ má klobúky, nápad urobiť si vlastnú líniu obľúbeného klobúka vznikol nejak tak priebežne. A pretože Sju je nielen krásna, ale aj šikovná a akčná žena, na výrobu oslovila tradičného českého výrobcu klobúkov, zostavila prvú farebnú a štýlovú líniu a ako toto čítate, prvé kúsky už sú na svete, fotia sa v Londýne (kde Sju žije a pracuje) a web stránka sa rodí tiež. Prvé kúsky zatiaľ môžete vidieť na FB stránke značky BySju.
Tieto fotky sú z Pohody, a klobúk na nich je jednoduchý čierny model z kolekcie (a aha ju, moja obľúbená džínsová vesta... :-). Krásny týždeň vám prajem!

In the detail: denim and gold

...plus I just can't get enough of denim vests this summer! (already cut off the sleeves of my favorite dark denim jacket and looking for another, baby blue one to do the same with :-)

...a toto leto milujem džínové vesty! (jednu tmavšiu bundu som už ukrátila o rukávy a hľadám ďalšiu, v svetlejšom prevedení, na ktorej by som spáchala niečo podobné :-)

Bicycle stories: Ivan

As a big fan of the preppy look, when choosing a bicycle, Ivan went for a classical American beach cruiser that he’s been having now for two years, riding the streets of the town of Trnava, to work, to the market, to the playground with his son or for a coffee run.

Ivan works as an art director and illustrator (check out some of his work below) in his own firm Provocation Bureau and what I am really curious about is his next venture: a brand of fashion accessories for men, like ties, bow ties, socks or belts (and with the goal to one day present the brand at the Pitti Uomo menswear trade show in Florence, pst! Keeping my fingers crossed!).  

Ako veľký vyznávač tzv. preppy štýlu, siahol Ivan po dlhom procese hľadania bicykla po type klasického amerického beach cruisera. Už dva roky na ňom jazdí po Trnave, do práce, na trh, na ihrisko so synom alebo na kafé do mesta.

Ivan je art director a ilustrátor vo svojej vlastnom štúdiu Provocation Bureau a čo mňa veľmi zaujíma, je jeho ďalší biznis plán: značka pánskych módnych doplnkov ako motýliky, kravaty, ponožky a opasky (s tajným plánom jedného dňa prezentovať značku na veľtrhu mužskej módy Pitti Uomo vo Florencii, ale pst! držíme palce!)

I love Ivan's fashion illustrations that are having a great success in the world, like being included in the last Great big book of fashion illustrations. Or the Cravatta Pelliano brand using his work for their last presentation at Pitti Uomo, and one of his illustrations you may find in the LePremier shop in Prague, and many more, as well as getting recognized by fashion insiders. Napriek tomu, že sme s Ivanom istý čas robili spolu na jednom projekte, netušila som o jeho módnych ilustráciách, ktoré sú fantastické (!), a celkom úspešne sa šíria do sveta. Boli zaradené napríklad do poslednej Great big book of fashion illustrations, značka Cravatta Pelliano ich použila na svoju prezentáciu práve na Pitti Uomo, jedna z ilustrácií je vystavená v pražskej predajni Le Premier a v neposlednom rade ide aj o uznanie fashion insiderov, ktorí sú na ilustráciách často vyobrazení. Moja obľúbená je asi tá s Nickom Woosterom, viac Ivanových prác si nenechajte ujsť na jeho FB stránke alebo webe. Pekný zbytok víkendu!

Braided, Pohoda festival

I love how this girl's hair is braided around her head and how the straw hat is sitting on the braid. And the red scarf is a wonderful bonus! :-)

Páčia sa mi tieto zapletené vlasy, ako objímajú tvar hlavy a tvár, a ako na nich slamený klobúk krásne sedí. Červená šatka na ramenách je bonus pre potešenie :-)

Headband chic, Pohoda festival

Aaaand continuing with the theme of red, two very different styles of headband chic, one very romantic and girly, the other one more rock chick chic. Love them both and even though I find my short haircut extremely practical (and chic of course, ha!) for summer festivals, I do wish it could be long sometimes. For like a day. Okay, two hours max, preferably in the morning :-)

Aaaa pokračujeme s červenou témou a dvomi veľmi odlišnými štýlmi šatky vo vlasoch - veľmi romantickým, dievčenským a druhým viac rockovým. Páči sa mi obidve a napriek tomu, že svoj krátky zostrih považujem počas letných festivalov za extrémne praktický (a samozrejme, že chic, ha!), niekedy zatúžim po dlhej hrive. Tak na deň. Vlastne tak na dve hodiny, ideálne doobeda :-)
